    Not-So-Happy Hour
    Sunday, March 05, 2006

A few days back I attended a happy hour hosted by the new big boss at my workplace. It has been some time since I last attended anything similar (since I was on temporary attachment to the defence headquarters for a couple of months), and I was actually looking forward to a good crowd and partying till 2359.
For the first time of the numerous Happy Hours I have attended, the attendance rate I saw was a stunning 10% or less, from the invited numbers. (Normally the attendace would be like 60 or 70%). The happy hour was extremely quite, and my new big boss, apparently too embarassed to stay for long in an empty lounge, decided to vanish early too.
And so, my branch fellas and a few officers from HQ were the only ones left. Well honestly, I was grateful the pitiful crowd dispersed early, so the Karaoke system was left for us lower ranks to enjoy. Beer was still free flow, so we didn't waste the chance and gulped a few more mugs. Surprisingly, the latest to leave were the females, who usually left like damn early.... They also seemed rather proactive with the singing, wonder what got into them...
Think the new big boss gotta do a bit of self reflection. an invitee list of 400+ and less than 40 turned up, something's definitely wrong with you man :)
